Ryan Kirkwood

Ryan Kirkwood returned to Thiess in 2024, and leads the Thiess Group’s global assets, autonomy and operational technology portfolio.

He brings close to 20 years’ experience across the mining, construction, telecommunications, utilities and asset infrastructure sectors across Australia and internationally. Prior to rejoining Thiess, Ryan held technical leadership and executive positions at BUMA Australia and Downer.

Throughout his career, Ryan has consistently delivered value through sustainable asset performance and operational excellence. He is focused on driving long-term performance across the asset lifecycle and accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge technologies – including autonomy and digital innovation – to future-proof the business. Ryan is passionate about building resilient, high-performing teams and leveraging data and technology to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainable outcomes.

He currently serves as a Director of Mechatronix and Fleetco, and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Queensland.
