Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project in Cloncurry, North West Queensland, represents a major greenfield development that strengthens Thiess’ growing presence in critical minerals. Through the Eva Copper Alliance Agreement, Thiess and Harmony have formed a fully integrated delivery partnership to progress the project’s construction and long-term mining services.
The Eva Copper Alliance Agreement aligns Thiess and Harmony strategically and operationally – enabling us to set new benchmarks for sustainable, efficient copper development at what will be the largest copper mine in Queensland.
The mining scope, includes bulk earthworks, workshop construction and a comprehensive suite of mining services spanning from June 2026 through to June 2031. Early works commenced in May 2025, drawing on Thiess’ established capabilities across civil and operational readiness activities. The agreement reflects Thiess’ strategic ambition to expand into commodities essential to the global energy transition, with copper playing a central role in electrification and low‑emissions infrastructure. The Eva Copper Mine is expected to become Queensland’s largest copper operation, positioning Harmony to advance its objective of evolving into an international gold and copper producer.
Thiess and Harmony share aligned values in supporting Indigenous participation, new‑to‑industry workforce development, regional procurement and long-term community outcomes in the Cloncurry region. Work will continue to focus on building sustained pathways for local people, strengthening partnerships with Traditional Owners, and ensuring project benefits endure beyond the mine’s operational life.
As the project transitions from construction to mining operations, Thiess remains committed to delivering technical excellence, operational reliability and sustainable outcomes for Harmony and the community. The Eva Copper Alliance represents a significant milestone in Thiess’ diversification journey and its role in supporting the global shift toward low‑carbon energy solutions.
