Indigenous voices helping shape reconciliation at Thiess
As a global services provider, we acknowledge and respect the history and contributions of First Nations peoples. Across our offices and sites, we recognise and value our responsibility to live and work on country, and with communities, respectfully and with care.

Fifty Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees from 18 projects across three Thiess Group operating companies recently came together in Brisbane for Connect.Yarn.Grow 2026, helping shape a more inclusive future across the business.
Held at the Thiess Centre under the theme All In, Better Together, the conference brought together Indigenous employees, Thiess Group leaders and external partners to share experiences, strengthen connections and identify opportunities to advance reconciliation.
As a key commitment under the Thiess Group Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028, Connect.Yarn.Grow provides an important opportunity for Indigenous employees to have their voices heard and contribute directly to decisions and initiatives that shape their workplace.
The program featured yarning circles exploring cultural safety, leadership pathways and new initiatives, alongside panel discussions with operational leaders and the introduction of the Thiess Group's new Social Inclusion Advisors.
For Jemma Kemp, Thiess Social Inclusion Advisor in Queensland, having leaders actively involved in these conversations was a highlight.
“The highlight for me was having leaders in the room, hearing our voices and creating a space where we could be open, honest and brave enough to speak up,” Jemma said.
Beyond sharing experiences, participants took part in implementation circles to identify practical actions to strengthen cultural safety, support Indigenous career development and foster a more inclusive workplace.
These insights and actions have been captured in a report and action plan that will help guide the ongoing implementation of the Thiess Group RAP 2026–2028.
Through initiatives like Connect.Yarn.Grow, Thiess continues to strengthen its commitment to reconciliation by listening to Indigenous voices, creating opportunities for meaningful participation and working together to build a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported and valued.
