Resumen
Thiess has been awarded the US$330 million Kapuas Bara Utama (KBU) mining contract in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The six-year project marks a positive confirmation of Thiess’ footprint in the region.
We will focus on our empowerment program for village-owned enterprises, providing fair and equal business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Under the contract, Thiess will undertake all mining activities, including site establishment, overburden removal, coal mining and water management. Mobilisation for the project will commence in early 2025, aligning with our focus on strengthening our presence in key markets, and fostering strong partnerships with communities and clients.
The KBU project represents an exciting chapter for Thiess in Central Kalimantan. Securing this partnership strengthens our presence in the region, where we have consistently demonstrated delivering value to our clients, whilst contributing positively to local communities.
