From these modest beginnings the Thiess Group has now expandedacross eight countries and three continents, with a workforce of more than 14,000,and is leading the way in sustainable mining, infrastructure, technical services andasset management.Our ninety-year anniversary is a monumental milestone and a testament to the hard work, commitment and vision of our founders and every one of our people over thelast nine decades.Marked first by the Great Depression in the 1930s, and then the turbulence of theSecond World War in the 1940s, these decades were tough for many. Yet these hard times only fuelled the determination of the Thiess brothers and their familiesthey turned challenges into opportunities through hard work, resilience and personal sacrifice. Stories of their ingenuity and perseverance are many, from their early construction works to the pioneering efforts in mining and infrastructure that set numerous world firsts.Today, ninety years since our inception on the Darling Downs of Queensland, we continue to embody that same pioneering spirit that has always driven this great company forward. Our ambition and determination propel us to grow, innovateand face the challenges of an ever-evolving global environment.My personal journey with Thiess began in 1998, as a project manager overseeing the remediation of Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour, and then the Maralinga nuclear test site in South Australia. Over the years, across different parts of the organisation and in different countries, Ive had the privilege of witnessing Thiess people achieve great things.As Executive Chair and CEO, I am deeply privileged to be leading this incredible company. My career at Thiess has provided me with countless memories and career highlights, and it has been a fantastic journey both for me and my family. Ive made many enduring friendships, and my wife Rowanne and I had all four of our children while being part of the Thiess family.'
